About the Judge

Mitchell Platt is the General Manger of the Cosmos Club. The Cosmos Club is a private social club, incorporated in Washington, D.C. in 1878 by men distinguished in science, literature and the arts. Since its founding, the Club has elected as members individuals in virtually every profession that has anything to do with scholarship, creative genius or intellectual distinction. Among its members, over the years, have been three Presidents, two Vice Presidents, a dozen Supreme Court justices, 32 Nobel Prize winners, 56 Pulitzer Prize winners and 45 recipients of the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Mr. Platt began there in the fall of 2013 after a 30 year tenure at Woodholme Country Club where he served as General Manager for 20 years. Mr. Platt is a Past President of Greater Baltimore Club Managers Association and Past President of The Baltimore Club Foundation. He is a Certified Club Manager(CCM), Certified Chief Executive(CCE), and a Member of the CMAA Honor Society. In 2012, Mr. Platt earned his Master Club Manager(MCM) certification. It is the highest level of achievement in CMAA's Lifetime Professional Development Program and he is the 18th club manager worldwide to attain this hallmark. In his spare time, Mr. Platt volunteers for the Days of Taste Program of The American Institute of Wine and Food(AIWF), and is a guest lecturer at the University of Delaware's Club Management class.
